New Sod Installation

Sod installation involves laying down pre-grown grass turf in a specific area to establish a lawn. Here are the general steps involved in sod installation:

1. Soil preparation: The first step in sod installation is to prepare the soil where the turf will be laid. This involves removing any existing vegetation, rocks, and debris and tilling the soil to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. The soil should be raked to create a smooth and even surface.
   
2. Soil amendments: Once the soil is prepared, it may be necessary to add soil amendments such as compost, fertilizer, or lime to improve the soil quality and pH levels. This will help to ensure the healthy growth of the grass.
3. Measuring and ordering: The next step is to measure the area where the turf will be laid and order the appropriate amount of sod from a reputable supplier. Laying the sod: When the sod arrives, it should be laid out immediately. The sod should be placed tightly together, with the edges butted against each other to create a seamless surface. It is important to stagger the seams in a brick-like pattern to prevent them from lining up and creating visible lines.
4. Watering and rolling: Once the sod is laid, it should be thoroughly watered to ensure moist soil underneath. A lawn roller can press the sod into the ground, ensuring good contact between the roots and the earth.
5. Maintenance: After installation, the sod should be watered regularly to keep the soil moist and encourage root growth. It is also essential to avoid walking on the newly installed sod until it has had time to establish itself.
